Bobby, what would be your typical shipping charge to North Carolina? I have found that sometimes shipping from Canada can be costly... I'd be interested in a couple of 2A tops and around 5 or 6 pieces of brace wood...

Always ship via Canada Post, not FedEx or ups. Keeps the brokerage fees down...

I work out of town now and when I get home I always stop in and see how Bobby is doing. I am totally impressed on how he has figured this stuff out so quickly. As always, the wood dictates the grade but the sawyer can either maximize the potential or turn it too junk. Bobby's top sets are all uniform and the ones I have looked at have been sawn right. I am stocked that he and Bruce have been able to keep Lutz Spruce available.

So just a little bit that I know about Bobby. He has been working in these small local sawmills for quite a while now. Although his biggest passion is his family you all should know that the tonewood thing is just an extension of his other passion, making music! Bobby is the usual front man for a local band called "King Crow and the Ladies from Hell". On this video he is the banjo player (don't hold that against him, he most usually plays acoustic guitar!). If you youtube search the band you will find lots of live concert clips but with their new cd release I am hoping to see more of these videos.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO9TqSh5yh4

Anyway, Welcome Bobby and the new High Mountain Tonewood Company (by the way, with their participation this company remains the longest, uninterrupted sponsor of the OLF!!). Hope to see you guys taking this company up a few notches and for sure I will be a long standing customer!

Hoping for every success!!

Shane

Any truth to the ominous declaration I read recently that the land these trees are growing on is in dispute by Native Americans, and that logging will soon be prohibited?

No! The Gitxsan to the east of where I typically harvested trees have issued "eviction notices" to the railway, to sports fishermen and to forestry activities. This is based on a recent supreme court of Canada decision that requires more meaningful consultation with aboriginal communities (looking more like consensus really) before development happens through lands that aren't addressed in treaties (in BC there is quite a bit of land like that). But at the end of the day this is a dispute over who has control and the authority to sanction harvests and right of ways, at the end of the day all of these things will still happen just not sure who the project proponent will have to deal with is all.

Still, most Lutz that has made it to the market has come off Tsimshian lands, not Gitxsan.

Shane

Thanks a lot, Shane. We really appreciate that.
There have been some interruptions in the local logging industry, but we have still been able to source logs. It may stop work in some areas but not all over the northwest. We have access to wood and are not too worried about it.

I gave the guys the back order list but the contact information was not always complete as many of the contacts are saved on my computer memory or were by PM. So please just let them know you are still interested and they will get you looked after and will also then have your contact information.

Thanks
Shane

Bracewood is $3/in. wide.

3/4" x 3" x 22" = $9
3/4" x 4" x 22" = $12 etc.

Check out our 'SALES PAGE' on our website, highmountaintonewood.com

What is the correct way to place orders? Your PM to me suggested email. And your website does not have a shopping basket.

Thanks,

Mike

How about a ball-park price on archtop sets?
Sorry. I did the research.
Thanks anyway, Shane.

Arch Top Lutz Guitar sets are $120 for 'AA'/'A' and $180 for Master/'AAA'

I don't have any cut at the moment but will have some on the fans soon. May be a little bit of a wait, but already have a few on order so will do a big batch.

Also, Arch Top Mandolin Sets are $55 for Master/'AAA' or $45 for 10 or more. And $35 for 'AA' or $30 for 10 or more. 'A' for $12/set.
